The aim of Unit 15X is to propose new designs of public spaces in the ever changing context of the African Continent. Public space can be defined as areas that are acknowledged, well known and open to all (Lim: 2013) and that these are collectively owned by the state they have the potential to improve the quality of life or urban dwellers in a democratic and just manner (Bravo & Guaralda: 2016). Public spaces are a public good that contributes to healthy and safe urban environments that facilitate social capital, economic development and community revitalisation
